When heading across the water, I normally book my ferries directly through the ferry company website.

What do you do, have you used any discounted travel sites etc.

Any advice or comments would be welcome, thanks.

Yes, I agree that Eurotunnel is a good way to cross The Channel, have used it on a few occasions.

However, living in the NE of England, it is over 300 miles away from Folkestone, the ride down can be a bit of a drag & may be an overnight stop too.

Heading to Newcastle (40 miles) or Hull (90 miles) for a ferry is an easier ride, plus a bed for the night.

As I am only 12 miles ride from the Channel Tunnel  I prefer to  travel on the Shuttle as it only takes 30 minutes and from the time leaving home to riding off in France is usually less than an hour.  As opposed  to 90 to 120  minutes on the Ferry.    Having said that,  keep an eye on DFDS cross channel  ferries as they  frequently do cheap promotion  deals, Dover to Dunkirk.    See their Link below ;

Railsavers offer Channel Crossings and say "We can usually always beat the web price by a substantial amount!"

Having just provisionally booked a ferry from Hull to Rotterdam & return, there are currently what I think are some good deals out there.

P&O are offering all their cabins at the same price (except Club), until 6th February 2015, therefore upgrade for free.

I'm going to book with Railsavers, http://www.railsavers.com/, they have offered a 12.4% discount on the P&O price for a 2 Bunk Inside Cabin + Motorcycle.

I prefer to have a 2 Bed Outside Cabin, on which I have been offered a 7.2% discount.

Railsavers also deal with other Operators & Routes.

Careful David,  with all the `cut backs'  and at that cheap price -  your `outside cabin'  could be the Life Boat with good  Sea Views !!!!    :alas:

I believe they are,  offering the best prices so, 10 % less is a `good deal'    ;)

It works, Confirmation plus P&O Crossing Voucher with Booking Ref. No. etc. arrived by e-mail today.

The P&O price has now gone up, making the saving even better.

I believe the motorail across Europe has gone bust and forced railsavers in to liquidation as a result.
