R1200RT 2014 Dashboard problems

Hi all,
I bought a new RT1200 last year and am now on my third dashboard assembly, the problem seems to be the anti misting coating spray that is applied to the inside of the clear plastic dash (at the factory) runs and leaves streak marks down the screens and is usually only visible in sunlight, my lastest one seems to have the speedo numbers lifting along with the clear transfer covering and streak marks on the central part of the dash, it is not water ingress. Less than a year old and only 4000 miles, has anyone else sufferred from this problem?

Hi and welcome to the forum,  perhaps the dealer should consider changing the whole assembly,  could still be due to water ingress some how,  then condensation as the unit warms up,  causing the streaks ?.  Are you able to post a photo showing the streaks,  some real `Guru's '  here on the forum may be able to advise.  ......  ;)

Hi,

Yes will try and post some. They have already replaced 2 complete assemblies, apparently they also had issues with the K1600.

You are not alone.  I have had the complete assembly changed.  The cause is condensation which seems to happen at temperatures below 10C.  When it dries out it can leave stains on the not so very effective anti mist gel.  On the 1600s they started replacing just the cover and seal as the units cost £800 a time retail. On the RT its a new unit.  It never seems to happen in warmer times, wet or dry. Im surprised our members in  colder places haven't suffered with it. When I posted details of mine nobody anywhere seemed to have had the same problem.

I have spotted the same condensation marks on my 2014 RT LC, looks like too much anti-condensation coating on the inside of the glass on the dash. Read this post and contacted my dealer, CW's of Dorchester, photos taken, BMW contacted and now booked in to have new dash fitted on June 5th. Thanks to the posts on this forum.
