local dealer not interested in fuel strip failure on 1200rt 2005.

Well after 3 weeks wait, local dealer wasn't interested in helping me get BMW UK to part or full pay for my faulty fuel strip. This is the first fuel strip ,on a 2005 rt with 13000 miles.looks like I will be forking out £200.00 for a common fault.

Indeed it may well be a common fault, but I don't think it is unreasonable for a manufacturer / dealer not to pick up the tab for an item that has had a service life of ten years.

It won't be your dealer who is not interested, it will be BMW. My understanding is that if the bike is out of warranty the owner is asked to pay.  If it goes again after the first replacement its FOC. £200 seems a bit high.  The strip is about £100.

The fuel strip went on my 2005 RT mine I think it was £90.

I didn't bother changing it just kept a eye on mileage. Funnily enough it slowly sorted itself out and after about 5 weeks and worked perfectly.

Never found out what the problem was. It had 50,000 miles on the clock when it packed up and I sold it with 56,000 miles showing and the fuel guage was spot on.

I've had the same issue with my '05 RT but it's not all the time which is annoying. So I just go off the mileage now.
