These tools/items are from an "Essential Kit" list I use.

Emergency tyre sealant
Compressor
Torch
Bike tool kit
Cable ties
Gaffer tape
Spare bulbs
Insulation Tape
Puncture Repair Kit
Oil
Tyre Pressure Gauge

Fortunately, on a pre-LC 1200RT, (without Audio),  there's loads of room for the above items & more in the tail unit, under the seat & in the glove box.

Within the "Bike tool kit", I carry sufficient tools to remove the plastics & wheels.

Contents of tool kit on bike:-

Screwdriver handle with 2 reversible blades, No.1 & No.2 star-head and 3/16" & 1/4" plain tips, plus adaptor for T20, T25 & T30 Torx bits,
T25 & T30 Torx wrench (standard BMW toolkit),
Motrax 19x24x22 front wheel axle tool + 19mm spanner,
T45 & T50 Torx socket 3/8" drive + 75mm 3/8" extension bar + 3/8" drive ratchet handle.

All fit into the tool roll under the seat.

I have one of the BMW tool rolls which I managed to get out of BMW UK when I discovered my 2005 RT came with a screwdriver. I lugged it around for about 8 years then consigned it to the garage. What's under the seat of the LC now does so BMW was probably right back in 2005.

Looking at the Rider's manual for an LC RT,
the Standard Toolkit contents are:-

Screwdriver handle
Reversible screwdriver blade with Phillips PH1 and Torx T25
Tool for oil cap
Open-ended spanner Width across flats 8/10

"BMW Motorrad has assembled a service toolkit that is ideal for carrying out extended service work (e.g. removing and installing wheels) on this motorcycle.
You can obtain the tools set from your authorised BMW Motorrad dealer."

Start of by listing the jobs you can do yourself. Reduce it by taking out the jobs you wouldn't do on the roadside. Then create a toolkit to do the jobs left on the list.
Four wheels move the body. Two wheels move the soul.

Good thinking, and in my case gets me back to my Emergency Assistance card.

Good advice, my theory is that if I can't repair a puncture at the roadside, then I've got the tools to remove the wheels if necessary.

Yes, I'll probably have a BMW Emergency Assistance card with me, but if someone turns up without the correct tools, (it can & does happen),
then the wheel could be removed & taken for repair or tyre replacement.

After that, if what's wrong can't be fixed by BMW at the roadside, then it's recovery to a Dealer.

Although Fuel Pump Controller failure now seems to be a thing of the past, he says touching the wooden dest top, as well as all of the stuff mentioned by David I also carry my own Controller "Bypass" lead. Oh, and about half a litre of Engine Oil and no doubt lots of other things I have forgotten about.

I think what you carry with you, just in case is an age thing. I recall at the tender age 19 setting off from Hampshire to Orkney on my Triumph 110 Tiger. The rear sprocket and chain were so worn 1st gear had to be used with just a little throttle or the chain jumped. Still got me there and back though. I never gave a second thought to tools.
