Hello out there. I'm new to the site, but not a new Beemer owner.
Came down with a sudden and intermittent problem with my baby, an 05 R1200RT with only 30,000 miles: It's lugging and missing when I roll the throttle on under load between 5 and 5500rpm. It seems to miss and lack power when accelerating past 80mph, in 5th or 6th. At lower RPM's it seems to run fine. Don't know where to start, fuel related or electronic. Had the standard service at 26,000 with new plugs, filter etc... My battery is 7 years old, and I just ordered a new one from Beemer Boneyard. Thought I'd start there and see if the problem disappears.
Any suggestions?
Hate to take it to the BMW shop before I exhaust all other options....$$$$....

My buddy had same issue with his 2006
It was a upper coil failure. He checked by pull coil and starting bike, using insulated gloves see if you can get a spark between coil and plug, if so go to opposite side. For some reason upper coils fail more often

sounds like exactly the same problem on a 2007 RT, might be worth a read.
Looks like the problem was a cracked sparkplug, checking the Primary Coils does seems like a good place to start.
"The dealer computer shows nothing, they say it's perfect", & this was before the sparkplugs were changed by the Dealer.

Thanks DaygoDavid!
That was very helpful.
I ordered a new battery, next thing is to check the plugs for cracks.
I'll post a note when I get it fixed.
