Larger grips

Post by Rwslater »

Hi everyone

I am the proud owner of a new '15 R1200RT and love the bike.  However I have some large hands and these small diameter grips don't make the hands very happy on a long ride.  Do any of you have recommendations for making these grips larger?

Thanks in advance
Ron

Try grip buddies or grip puppies. I use grip puppies. They increase the standard grip diameter and dampen vibrations. Easy to fit and if they don't work for you easy to remove. Worth a try.

Fitted some yesterday, took about 10 mins max with soapy water. Will test ride them today, out all day  :)

I have used grip puppies for 3000 miles on a R1200RT and they work well for me, slight increase in grip diameter, slight reduction in vibes, nice feel.
I bought mine off Ebay Buy it now.

How would grip puppies effect how well the grip heaters work in cold weather?

Fitted some a couple of weeks ago. It was 2 degrees in the UK last weekend and I had my heated grips on! So the answer is, they don't seem to make any difference to the heat, if anything they felt warmer :)

Thanks Casbar! Good to know! Would seriously like to have larger grips but afraid of losing the heating option!

based off this thread i bought a set of grip puppies, i wear a large size glove and my hands are much more comfy - for under 20 bucks they are great

I went to a sporting goods store and bought that material you use to rewrap tennis rackets.  I prefer the feel of that to the grip puppies.

Do the old style RT grips fit the new RTs, anybody know?  They were the perfect size and feel.
