Yes apart from the salt and risk of ice, who in their right mind would ever consider riding in clear blue skies, dry unpotholed roads in weather that you have to unzip the vents on the triple layered bike kit?
That's the reason for heated grips and seats isn't it? I mean what the hell is the point of buying something that you're never going to use? For example, who do you know who ever bought a 'Buttoneer' by K-Tel, or managed to draw a circle of flowers on an Etch-O-Sketch??!

Hmm well I have to say that that seems a bit on the chilly side!
Where I come from if the sun isn't shining and your vents aren't open on your jacket why bother!
I think I am extreme riding when the forecast says a chance of rain and its still above 10 degrees Celsius. The only reason I get the bike out on these days is because I booked it in for a service!
Looking forward to a ride on the weekend, it's forecast  to be 30 degrees Celsius, I hope it's not too cold when I start out!

Very true Plod, however we don't have to scrape bugs off afterwards!  :alas:

Ya don't have to worry about the bugs...
The spiders eat them up and the snakes eat the spiders!! ^-^

Much better than all of that salt! ;)
