Navigator V cradle

Post by UKDucatiman »

Could someone confirm if a Navigator V cradle (pt/no 77 52 8 544 464) will fit my 2006 R1200RT?

It is listed in Real OEM as being compatible. You will however need either the mount to attach it between the handlebars or alternatively the bar and mount that goes on top of the dash. That one will foul your screen in the low position though. You will find the socket to connect it behind and under the headlight, normally has a black cap on it. Part number for the handlebar mount is 71 60 7 687 853

Thanks for the updates, much appreciated. I've found the connector and it plugs straight in : ) So next step is to mount the cradle. I've got a Wunderlink bracket which sits the cradle on the covering above the speedo and tacho. This is really cool as the Satnav will always be in my field of vision making it easier and safer to navigation & operation. However BMW obviously never meant it to be there as there seems no easy route to feed the cable back to the connector under head stock. Any ideas or experience about routing this would be much appreciated.

Don't want to spoil your day but I very much doubt the V will fit up there without your screen fouling it.  Cable routing will obviously be more difficult as well. when I had one it was always mounted it below and it was easy to read and stayed dry.  Couldn't fit the tank bag though. You might be alright with the Wunderlicht one but a lot of their kit is bulkier than the OEM stuff.

Looks like the Cockpit Trim Panel will need to be removed & the wire fed behind the Instrument Cluster.

Yes, it's the item in DaygloDavid's link so I'm hopeful it should fit ok, especially now I've seen the removal instructions  :)

Except of course your 2006 clock moulding is not the same.  It changed in 2010 although the instruments underneath all the plastic is the same.

The Wunderlich Video is the correct year RT, up to 2009, it's just got a Wunderlich instrument panel cover fitted.

He should be OK then. The V is a lot bigger unit than the 550 they show though.

I also have a Zumo 660 mount which is smaller than the V cradle so may go down that route if size becomes an issue. But it has a longer lead with more connectors and I will need to get a BMW female connector to connect in.

The connection cable should be available from any dealer, don't have the part number as its a car part but the bag just says Tool. Costs about £9.00. Found it. Pt No 83 30 0 413 585

The Zumo 660 mount can be wired directly to a "Switched Live" & "Earth".
