Rear pads getting near sell by date ,best to get done before the hollybobs, will the wheel come of past the exhaust ?or does it have to come off first or at least be moved a bit

One forum says pads can be replaced with wheel on
Another says if bike lifted enough rear wheel come off without removing tail pipe
I'am leaning towards just removing left bag and giving it a go

OK thanks sorry cannot help you not familiar with your model.

Just undo the rear clamp on the end can and loosen the front one. It will then twist out enough to get the wheel,out. 
Would advise against replacing the pads with anything but OEM ones.  Some aftermarket ones can seriously reduce the life of the disc.
While you there check that the rear spacer (the big lump of metal the wheel bolts to) looks newer than everything around it.  They were originally made of alloy but due to over tightening these could crack. BMWs solution to this was to replace the lot world wide with a steel version.  If your not sure any dealer can tell you if it's been done.  It's a totally free recall.  If it's not been done get them to swap your pads at the same time. probably be labour free.

It gives a good idea of what to do, but I wouldn't let this guy lose on my bike.

Although my 2012 RT is not included in the Rear Wheel Flange Recall, decided to check it, a magnet proved it to be Steel not Aluminium.

Think the recall effected R and K models between 2003 and 2011.

The recall was issued in the UK in April 2015, hopefully, any bikes which have been to a BMW Dealer since then will have been checked.

Checked the hub has been done , anyone know torque setting for wheel bolts of the top of there head ?
While in below last night checking appears a leak has developed since the weekend run out Arghh !!

If you are talking about the rear hub it depends where it's leaking from.  There is a seal behind the black disk on the hole . If it's leaking there it's an easy fix at a dealer.  From anywhere else not quite so easy.  In all cases I would visit a dealer, not poke about trying to find it.
