Newbie with several questions

Post by Denny Crane »

Hi
I'm 57, have been riding since a teenager, mostly Honda's.

I just bought a 2015 RT that has most all options if I can figure out how to use them!

First question is another seat height topic. Being 5'6" with 29" inseam every inch counts! My question is how do I tell which seat it has on it?? Part numbers? I just saw some pictures that make me think it already has the low seat but how do I know that for sure before I look for a low seat to buy? It is on the low setting under the seat already. I can touch both sides but would like to have more than toes if possible without modifying suspension or anything like that which I won't do.

Anyone know how to identify each seat?

I will try to attach a photo of my seat.

Thanks

Judging from your photo, i would toss the dice and say that looks like a "standard" seat height.

here is a link to three pictures showing the different heights side by side.

Definately a standard seat.  I have the same leg measurement and can't use the standard one.

After seeing those photos I agree, it is a standard which is a good thing because it means I can still get about an inch with the low seat.

Now where to find a heated low seat?? Or trade for regular??

Thanks!

Where did you get the bike from? My local dealer let me borrow a low seat for the day so I could try it, for me I decided to keep the standard and accept that I can't flat foot for the extra comfort as I found the low to be hard. In any case I think you'll only find one at a dealers, infact if I'd liked the low they offered to do a straight swap.

Bought from individual is why I wasn't sure which seat option it has. No dealer very close but if that is the only option.

How about crash bars? I haven't dropped a bike in 40 yrs but I also wasn't riding one this tall.

Are the BMW crash bars the way to go or does any aftermarket companies make them for this bike?

Thanks
