2016 R1200RT Autocom SPA Installation, PDM60 Installation
2016 R1200RT Autocom SPA Installation, PDM60 Installation
Before trading, I removed my hardwired Autocom SPA unit from the K16 with the intent to install on the RT. I've read several members have had dealer install, but wonder whether anyone performed the hardwired Autocom install themselves? I'll be using factory stereo lead #2273 to tap into the speaker wires and would like to know the speaker wire color code. On the K16 the code was as follows:
Left speaker
yellow / Black stripe +
Yellow / red stripe -
Right speaker
Blue / Black stripe + (mine was solid blue no stripe but dealer manual shows a stripe)
Blue / red stripe -
With the code, I'll still test wires to confirm, but having the code would give me a little jump start.
Also, where is your SPA mounted, and if you have a PDM60 or similar fused power source, where is that mounted?
Cheers,
B

Can't help you with where to install the SPA as its a large unit compared with the Logic. The 2273 will connect exactly as it did on your 1600 as its the same audio unit. There's lots of advice here on where to wire it,

my autocom is here.
Space is limited due to the Alpine unit.

Nice pics! Thank you! barryj wrote: my autocom is here.

Radio? As in bike to bike radio? I also have a Midland 75-822 CB for my SPA setup. I take it it's mostly dry in the tail?

It's dry but a bit "dusty"
Radio and autocom is usually wrapped in bubble wrap.

Autocom part 2437 fitting
Can anybody please tell me the best place to connect Autocom part 2437 to on 2016 RT. The part in question is a fused relay remote switch. It must be connected to a switched live but Autocom advise against connecting to the brake light circuit, and I am sure I have read somewhere that connecting to the auxillary socket may stop the canbus switching off and possibly draining the battery! Thanks in anticipation.

Part 2437 is shown as being a direct connection to the battery part, not to a switched live. If you want to connect to a switched live the normal power cable will do . The only thing that I have seen that has kept the canbus alive is the Bluetooth dongle.
In addition modern Autocom units only stay live if you plug in your headset. This can be checked by plugging into the pillion connection only. The unit should not switch on.

I also have the SPA, fitted in the same way using velcro. I plug into the Aux socket nearby, that way when I use Bluetooth comms when solo or just a pax I can unplug the Autocom. It causes no problem with the canbus as, unlike the BMW battery charger, it is not recognised.

According to the sheet included with part 2437 it does connect to Pos and Neg of battery, then Pos and Neg of Autocom power lead connect inside of 2437. Part 2437 also has another Pos wire which connects to switched live. I presume this is so the switched live can open the relay within 2437 and allow power through to Autocom and when switched live is off the relay stops the power and thus Autocom switches off. Am I correct in my assumption-I don't want to fry the unit! The unit I am thinking of fitting is the Logic not SPA.

To be honest I never bother with any power cable except to standard 2427 one. Only costs £15 and has done the job on many bikes. Anything else is just over complication

If the Logic powers up when headset plugged in and powers down when headset unplugged then no worries about canbus detecting a power draw and not shutting down. I didn't know that these Autocom units switched on and off like my present Starcom. Thanks for your input Guys.
