Too true, if you have an old K100 hiding away somewhere, you're Quid's in, possibly even cheaper at Wilcos........

Thia is the oil that BMW recently prescribe for the 1200RT, at least here in Holland
As a replacement for the Motorex boxer oil

Seems that BMW do change the specification more often than I change my underwear  O0

SIMPLIFIED RANGE Oil Recommendation The range of engine oil specifications and grades previously suggested for use in BMW Motorcycles has been considerably reduced, resulting in a choice from just two recommended engine oils. The following recommendation chart illustrates that these two engine oils will now serve the entire BMW range of motorcycle models, whether old or new!

Still Showing 5W-40 - and having a wet clutch - I don't think they will ever change the visc. to anything heavier than 5W
