My Haynes hasn't yet arrived.

Could someone please tell me what the front disc bolt torque should be?

Thanks.

Brilliant - thank you very much. I was sitting here, looking at the wheel, hoping that someone would reply - much appreciated - thanks.

The Haynes Manual for the R1200 dohc Twins 2010 to 2012 gives the following Torque setting.

Front brake disc bolts 19 Nm.

Thanks David. That explains why I couldn't get passed 25nm without shearing 2 torx bits!

David is correct with the torque settings  :) MacJ quoted the settings for caliper mounting bolts  :o

The front brake caliper mounting bolts are 30 Nm, in both the Haynes Manual & BMW Rider's Manual.

Not if you're looking at the manual for water cooled  :silence:

Yes I know, I was referring to the small difference in what I quoted as it's slightly different for the water cooled RT's which coincidently is the same value that MacJ quoted.  ::)

Hey Gents,

I have just checked the front discs and they move ever so slightly. I checked the back disc and it does not move at all. Has anyone noticed the same slight movement?
Thanks. Cheers, Pat

Different mounting methods fixed floating and semi floating.  The latter help reduce warping by allowing the disc to expand and contract

Yes, both my front discs (2012) float around slightly.

Thanks Dave for clarifying the discs tightness issue. After writing my question, I realized the floating/heat dispersion aspects. Notwithstanding my realization, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my query. Cheers Pat
