2012 Twin Cam - Service Costs
My 2012 TC will be due an annual service soon, having spoken to a local BMW dealer, they have offered to do an engine oil & filter change, plus final drive oil change for a very reasonable labour only rate, I will supply the oils & parts etc.
I'll probably leave the service a little longer until the bike has done nearly 6,000 miles since it's last service, then have the valve clearances & engine synchronization checked.
The BMW dealer offers a FOC visual health check which ticks all the boxes from an inspection point of view.
Does anyone know how much it is likely to cost to have the additional 2 items completed at 6,000 miles.

Thanks John, I'm looking at labour only, have been quoted £68 for oil & filter, (plus final drive oil change FOC).
Does your invoice breakdown the cost of parts/labour.

For £68 many dealers wouldn't let you through the workshop doors. Don't forget to give them a tip.

Re: 2012 Twin Cam - Service Costs
That's a great help thanks John.
The unit cost for labour (AW) is £7.80 + 20% VAT.
The BMW Service + Engine oil change, with filter is £65.52, I've been quoted £68.00, seems reasonable.
The Valve Clearance check is £37.44 + Engine synchronization at £74.88 = £112.32, will be interesting to see what my local BMW dealer comes back with.
What the invoice does confirm is that items with service codes can be requested & priced individually.

All service invoices from BMW dealers should always break down items by codes and unit cost.

If the unit cost (AW) is 10.00, would this be an hours labour at £93.60 inc. VAT.
The National Minimum Wage is £7.20 per hour, to pay the BMW Monkeys 1 hour, you'd have to work for 16.25 hours after tax.
It's daylight robbery!

It's called a labour cost but you are paying for their knowledge and the facilities needed to complete their work. There is always an alternative, back street garages or DIY.

DIY, you know it's done properly.
Recently had my XJ650 set up using WG analysis on a dyno testing machine at £48 per hour, that's knowledge & facilities which BMW don't offer at their dealerships.
Some folks take their RTs to Hilltop for this service.

This oil, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Castrol-Power- ... ing+10w-50,
is a higher specification than Advantec Pro 15W 50 at nearly half the price.
As recommended by BMW for Boxers.
