Done that! But the problem is they want over 1k just for the Iconic, my renewal as just come through for the TC and a 600 Fazer (joint policy) £294!
Don't get me wrong I know it will increase but 1k!!

Seems very excessive.  Mine has just been renewed for £300.  And that's with the priceless grey paint.

Have you discussed insurance with your dealer.  They no doubt have come across this before and might point you in the right direction.

Yes ... but they just direct you to BMW insurance 😊
A friend is getting one as well, different dealer, they mentioned insuring it as a LC-LE with extras and taking a shortfall insurance out with BMW !! Hmmm

Thanks for you replies RTMan

Hi all. Im a new member but have owned BMW RT's for a few years now. Im that friend of DaveCly  :))  picking up my Iconic tomorrow but having the same problems with Carol Nash.  Currently waiting for them to ring me back but I suspect the company that will ultimately insure this be it BMW or not, ( and they are only brokers as it turns out) will want their pound of flesh  :'( so I'm not confident.  Ill keep you posted.

Paid £377.20 for a Six Wheel Policy with Carol Nash, insuring one car & two motorcycles.

You've got a problem there, that's 8 wheels.

Carol Gash wouldn't add my RT LE on my existing policy, as the bike is over 15 K! So, I guess they don't insure many BMWs. Went with Bennett's online for £115.60 comp.
Most brokers couldn't find their backside with both hands.

Just had a friend in who has swapped his GSA for the 1200RS Iconic. I warned him about the insurance problem as he is insured with Carole Nash.  He just rang to say it makes no differences and he's paid £38 to swap the bikes.

Well has I've found out the last 2 days ... It's a minefield !!
Glad you mate was easily sorted RTMan, but it can be down to postcode, NCB, and the difference in price from currant bike to the new one! Among a lot of other things of course.
Thankfully I'm finally sorted and can now look forward to getting the bike, thanks for your help guys 👍

I just insured mine with MCE they initially wanted to £7000 as value was 21K , they basically can't insure if it is over 20K even when they corrected it to be an LE instead of SE.
