I've done the tour of the Ducati factory in Bologna a couple of times - looked remarkably similar, right down to the happy smiley faces !
Ducati make two items in house (crankshafts and camshafts) - I'm guessing BMW do something similar ?

Going thru the gears with extraction on. Rides it out. So think so.

If they're anything like Ducati, they don't stick to their own running in procedures - apart from getting the engine hot before winding it up on the rolling road.
