Connects the audio unit to your Autocom totally freeing you from ever bothering with bluetooth again, nearly.

Out of curiosity, how does the connection work? I have read that it wires in to the speaker wires - does that mean the speakers are disconnected, or that (heaven forbid) they are on all the time while you are also using the intercom? Or is there some clever gadetry that means you can use the intercom but still use the speakers if you want to?

Autocom 2273 is a lead for bikes without on-bike speakers.

Autocom 2275 is a switched lead for bikes with on-bike speakers.

"Many motorcycles, BMW, Honda Goldwings, Harleys etc. have an on-board sound system. Your Autocom can easily be connected to this using an Isolated Audio Cable 2273 or 2275. These cables are connected into the speaker wires of the bike system. The bike sound system can now be listened to in the Autocom headset. Part 2275 features a switch which allows you to switch between the on-board bike speakers and the Autocom Headset."

Chainspeed are good & helpful for Autocom products, http://chainspeed.co.uk/autocom/

They say that the 2275 lead has a 3 way switch, "Three way switch for use through on board speakers, headset or all off".

Both 2273 and 2275 are only useable with speakers as it attaches to them. The difference is with the 2275 you can toggle the sound between your headset or speakers or switch both off.  This function nearly doubles the cost of the cable and is totally unnecessary.  The volume needed from the audio unit to the Autocom is so small it's nearly impossible to hear the speakers anyway.

I think the idea with the 2273 lead is, that it's designed for use with retro fitted stereo systems which don't have speakers fitted, just into an Autocom headset.

"PART 2273 Designed to let you connect a typical car type stereo system to a bike powered Autocom. For use on bikes without on-bike speakers."

"PART 2275 Designed to let you connect a typical car type stereo system to a bike powered Autocom,
and then switch the music between either the on-bike speakers, or through the Autocom headset/s."

Saves you riding around like a mobile disco, although it could be cool, depending on what's playing.

They might say that but the fitting instructions for both types tells you to connect then to the speaker cables.  I have sold dozens of the 2273 which have been fitted to RTs and K1600s that had audio units fitted.  Drilling is needed with the 2275 and the switch  is not s thing of beauty.  Any sound from the fitted speakers is minimul when you have it working through your headset.  At double the price I would say don't buy the 2275.

Both the 2273 & 2275 are connected to the speaker cables, but the cables may not have speakers attached.

The 2275 switch could be placed out of the way, e.g. under the seat.

The 2273 is £45 & the 2275 is £67, less 10% atm from Chainspeed.

So for £22 you can add a switch then hide it out of reach.  Just remembered.  It's covered with a rubber teet to keep water out.  Doesn't work very well.

Why spend £1,075 on an audio system, then save £22 on the wrong lead.
