Most of the time Road.  In bad weather Rain when I remember.
Lots will say they use Dynamic all the time but for me it can make things a bit jumpy.

I have only just built up the confidence to use "road" but I will use "rain" if it gets a bit wet.

I hope that one day I will have the courage to try "dynamic"

Road most of the time. Rain rarely and only in a torrential downpour  Dynamic occasionally just to feel the difference.

Think the book says the power is the same, in Road and Dynamic for sure.  Supposed to change the ASC between the three but as I have never known it to activate on any of my bikes since I've had it over the last 12 years, do what.
It definitely  changes the throttle response though from rubber band to instant.

Road/Normal 80% of the time.

Rain/Normal 10%

Dynamic/Hard 5%

Dynamic/Normal 5%

Anything/Soft 0%

Pre-load always set one level higher - i.e. 1+bags for solo; 2 for solo plus full bags.  I prefer the way it sharpens up the handing a bit.  Might explain why I fry front tyres though!

I'm looking forward to exploring the different modes on the RT. On my 2013 GS the modes also changed the suspension setup - so Rain set the ESA to Soft, Road to Normal and Dynamic to Hard. The result was that I found it quite tiring to ride the bike in Dynamic mode and annoying to have to remember to go in and change the suspension back to normal. But with the RT not changing the ESA settings along with the ride mode I can see me venturing into Dynamic more frequently.

Dynamic/normal most of the time
Twistes, Dynamic/hard
Rian mode, for rain/wet streets and gravel roads

Change the suspension mode? Not on mine it doesn't. It was one of the first things I noticed when the sales guy was showing me over the bike - change to Rain or Dynamic and the ESA stays in Normal. He said it doesn't work that way on the RT (presumably he meant the new 2017 RT I guess if it works that way on older ones).

That's odd.  Can't see why they would remove something like that on the 17 model. Sounds like a retrograde step to me. Mine is a 14.  Anybody else with a 17 that doesn't change ride mode along with the engine mode.

Dynamic / normal most of the time with a switch to hard when things get interesting.
In really heavy rain switch to rain.
Just love the response from dynamic mode but it is a bit jumpy at 20 - 30 mph through towns, but once out of town.................................
