Boxer Engine Safety when crashing

This is a study completed analysing motorcycle accidents. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25793434


In short, because of ABS, more accidents now occur where the motorcycle hits head on. They concluded this means more lower limb injuries. Boxer engines apparently help with safety of this type of injury.


So we are riding safer motorcycles - Good News  8)  Best not to fall off though.

I really wouldn't want to put this to the test !  I had one " off" at not much more than walking pace and, because I went over so quickly, I dislocated my shoulder blade and burst the tendons. This has left me with a misshapen and weakened shoulder, so the idea of having a high speed head-on crash (on any kind of bike) doesn't appeal !
Best not to fall off indeed. 👍
