Wonderwheel not functional on my 2016RTW when using my Nav V from my 2014 R12GSW

I figured I didn't need to buy another GPS so I tried using the GPS from my 2014 R1200GSW on my 2016 R1200RTW. I don't get the ability to use the Wonderwheel at all. Is there a setting somewhere that needs to be set? I have the Nav prep on my bike and it powers the Nav V with no problem--just don't get to use the Wonderwheel.

Is this something the dealer needs to tweak or can I do it with my GPS-911 device?
Any help appreciated.

Thanks!

You have a fault with the wheel I think, not the Nav. Can you pull up the Nav option in the menu.  I think on the GS the wheel only works the Nav.  On the RT you have to be in the Nav function setting in the menu before it will work.

It might be that you just haven't worked out how to use it.

On the GS the wonder wheel is directly connected to the Nav 5. On the RT the wonder wheel is directly connected to the menu system. To get control of the Nav 5 you have to scroll down the menu system until you find the option for the Navigator. Once you select that the wonder wheel will operate the Nav 5 - although with the limitation that you can only scroll to the right. If you pull the wonder wheel to the left it treats that as the 'exit' option.

I had exactly the same confusion when I first swapped the Nav 5 from a GS onto an RT.

Hmm, I have a 2016 with the NAV V, and must admit I have never even tried to control it with the wonderwheel.  I usually just set it before I take off, and have always used its touch screen controls.  I guess I need to experiment to see what its capabilities are.

In my experience the Nav5 works quite differently on the two bikes.  To me, the integration between the Nav5 and the bike is better on the GS but the interface (how the WW controls the Nav5) is much better on the RT.

As far as I can see the integration is exactly the same for the 2016+ RT as it is for the 2013+ GS(A). I understand that earlier versions of the RT didn't have the full integration though.

That would be a good improvement.  So, on the 16 RT does the Nav5 monitor the bike itself - tyre pressures, engine temp etc etc?

I have a 2017 model RT (build date Nov 16) and it doesn't have the My Motorcycle App enabled. After some investigation by myself and the supplying dealer it would seem that some bikes don't have this feature (which gives access to the data).

That's not right.  That was one of the selling points , that the 17 spec bikes did have it.  Have another go at them.

I even spoke to the BMW tech guru on the BMW stand at the London Bike Show and he said I might not have it (but wasn't v. convincing!) I sometimes wonder if it's because it's an SE model ?

Will do. Tried mine on a GS and it came up, but haven't tried another Nav V on mine yet.

I can't see BMW making two 2017MY bikes with different onboard computer / software. If yours doesn't have the Nav 5 integration then that strongly suggests to me it's actually a late 2016MY bike. If it was sold to you as a 2017MY bike then you should be having strong words with your dealer.
