Hi All:  I am looking for the best way to put a ram mount ball onto my 2016 bike.  I don't want the phone in the compartment.  Please advise. Thanks in advance.

top of clutch cylinder?

Don't one or two people make a RAM mount that replaces the existing cylinder cover?

Not sure I'd want to use it but you can get them...

Alternatively, what about a Telferizer?

Not a Ram style mount, but I have had really good luck with the iOttie Easy One Touch 3 which I got at Amazon.  The phone holder is SOLIDLY on my bike.  I mounted it on the flat spot just forward of the fuel filler port. It does not interfere with the handle bars nor does it obscure anything on the panel. You can run a wire for power or to plug the audio out to the bike for speaker or Bluetooth.  It is very adjustable.

Try something like this Ram mount balls mounted to handle bars. Then use X grip mount for phone or other accessories.

Nice.  Did you use the M8 screws that came with the ball?

I was wondering.  In U.K. with the recent increase in fines, points and prison time allocated to the use of phones while driving, what's the fuzz likely to make of one sitting up on the bars.

No, if I remember the grip bolts are M10, I bought some 55 & 60 length allen head at local fastener place. Also drill out ram mount ball units to fit the M10 size. If you do this I would suggest putting couple of washers under the ball units. This will help get them out further from the casting.
I use the left ball mount for ram mount water bottle holder on longer rides, but you will need 6" double ball clamp to get above clutch reservoir.
I do use ball mount for phone once in a while with x grip, it allows me to see incoming call and choose to pull off and take call or ignore and ride on.

Not sure what they would say if pulled over, luckily I haven't been pulled over!!

I do really like using it for ram mount water bottle holder. Just quick pull off get a sip of water and right back on the road no digging in tank bag.
