Changing road route colour on the BMW Nav V

Post by stayingupright »

I have changed my route road colour to red on my Nav V but it is not as visible in sunshine as I had hoped. I am looking to change it again to another colour but am not sure which would be best ... Any ideas?
I was born with nothing and unfortunately I still have most of it left.

I always use the factory set magenta. Having tried them all it seems the best. But then again none of them are great in bright sun.

The preset UK colours are a problem for me because I'm colour blind (hence the fabled pink trousers story).  The route looks the same as motorways and rivers, which has at times sent me off the wrong way at junctions.  Spoke to the man from Garmin at the NEC show and his handy tip was to change the country map style in preferences.  Anyone tried this?

Bright sun? Must be talking about riding abroad - can't possibly be in the UK.
So when is this “old enough to know better” supposed to kick in?

I always think of not being able to see my satnav in bright sun as being a high-quality problem...

Ultimate solution is don't look at it just listen to the prompts and keep your eyes on the road.

Never tried it.  Be interested to hear whether you think it helps solve the original problem.  Nav5 certainly isn't the brightest/easiest screen in sunlight but (so far) it isn't really caused me any problems so I haven't fiddled with the appearance, other than selecting the blue arrow instead of the motorbike icon.  I could never tell which way the motorbike was going!

I use the BIG Yellow Bus, & magenta route colour & have no problem most times unless the sun is from direct behind me.
