Plastic shroud, RHS at rear of right cylinder.

Dear All,
As a newbie to the R1200RT, I've got what I think is a silly question, but it's annoying that I can't get it out of my head. Today I removed the black plastic shroud at the rear of the RHS cylinder, exposing the starter motor (at least I think it's the starter motor!) and other stuff. When I went to re-attach the shroud / panel (held on by two screws) I found that when I tightened the lower screw, the panel would still "slide / move" as if it wasn't done up tight enough. The top screw has a deeper "boss" under the head of the screw than the lower screw. I did not mix up the screws. Is this normal? (I know it's pretty anal, but....)
Cheers, Rickmeister.

Are you sure you have not mixed the two screws up?
Some screws have a long unthreaded shank on them whilst others do not.
If you mix them up you cannot tighten down on the panel.

Did you put the protrusion/shaft into the rubber grommet at the top of the panel.

Yes top and bottom screws have different shoulder lengths, try reversing them
Supposed to be a rubber grommet for center attach point, have scene a couple delivered without.
I've learned the hard way about BMW panel screws, noe when removing panel I use a bit of masking tape and attach the removed screw next to the hole it goes in, saves time later
