Haltwhistle and/or Moffat

Post by k9doc »

/viewtopic.php?t=6

Missed out on this last year but did manage to get there in September. Fabulous rides there and back from the south and then a really good day in Northumberland and the Scottish Borders which IMO are two of the best possible biking areas in our Islands.
The 'Centre of Britain' is a really nice friendly hotel and the breakfasts are epic.

I am definitely looking to do a similar or possibly slightly longer trip this year and/or a couple of nights based in Moffat with runs into Dumfries & Galloway and Northumberland. Again 'The Buccleuch Arms' is a very friendly biker hotel with great food.

Would there be any interest in making either or both these trips into 'Get Togethers'.

For me, it all hinges on dates - I've got a fair few commitments this year, but if you choose dates which happen to work for me I'll be there !

I'll keep an eye on this thread and see what comes up.

Likewise on the commitments and the need to plan other things. Just looking for general interest at the moment and then possible suggestions for dates.

Yes, I'd be interested in a "Get Together".

Would have to agree, the Centre of GB Hotel in Haltwhistle is fantastic, could easily go there again.

Not stayed in Moffat, but did do some of that area from Melrose last year (2016).

If you are looking for a good deal on D,B&B, the Bay Waverley Castle Hotel is OK.

This event was discussed whilst we were out in the Peak District yesterday, is there any further interest from others.

Was hoping to do something in June and dates are fairly flexible at the moment. If you are interested and have available dates then it would be good to know.

For anyone that has never been, the riding up there is of the highest order and once you've been, you'll want to go back.

At the moment, this day trip is planned for Saturday 3rd June, https://1200rt.com/viewtopic.php?p=31362#p31362, after that, I've got nothing planned.

June is getting a bit tight now so would be looking at the second half of July (Tewksbury on the 8th). Any interest, happy to be flexible on dates.

I would be interested in coming along to something like this.

As with most people, the sooner dates are firmed up the sooner I would be able to commit.

I'm hoping to go to Spain in late June and Romania in July / August, but Haltwhistle / Moffat could fit.
