BMW R1200RT/R1250RT Forum

I'm looking to get a 1200rt and found a new 2016.  I could save at least 1k by purchasing this instead of a '17, but I know there are some differences (lean angle ABS, for one).
I know not much about BMW bikes.  I currently own Harleys and Ducatis, so I'd like the opinion of those with experience.  Thanks!

That is not a lot of difference in price between models a year apart. 
There are conflicting opinions here on the improvements between the two but on the whole the 17 is better in the transmission department with a smoother gearbox .
If I had the choice it would be the 17 as it's  resale value down the line I'll be better.

I have a 2014, no lean angle stuff for abs. Not missed it but then never plan to hit the brakes once leaned over either.

1 K difference is a no brainer take the 17.

Seems off only 1K difference. 

Guys were getting 4-5k off and Nav V on 16's over here on this side of the pond.

If not a hardship go the 17.

Nobody ever PLANS to hit the brakes when they're leaned over!

I would push for a better deal. I bought a 2016 bike from a UK dealer that was 6 months old and with 1,500 miles on it.  I saved over £4,000 compared to new and I know of others who got a similar deal.

And I thought I got a good deal!
