New 2018 RT what would you like to see ??

Post by Paulseadoo »

With the prospect of a Mid Term Facelift on the BMW RT for 2018.

What changes or what extra would you all like ????

For me only three things.

1) Reverse
2) Lockable Sat Nav
3) Better Bluetooth (Bike to Helmet, via the official BMW Helmet System)

Regards
Paul

Don't think so  There were lots of changes for 2017.  And reverse on an RT, no chance.
Now my RT has a reverse but then it weighs 460 kg.

Can't argue with those.

I would also add ...

Adjustable foot pegs
Adjustable handlebars
Built in teasmade
I was born with nothing and unfortunately I still have most of it left.

Taller 6th gear, cruising at higher speeds I feel the engine RPM could be lower with no real loss in roll on acceleration, +1 on the lockable Sat Nav and better Bluetooth!  Peter

Right side glove box BMW stole, or at least power socket that you can use to power things!!!!!!  on same side as glove box wouldn't be to much to ask for. More control over nav 5 from wheel. Small niggles I Know so they got most things right. Haven't gone down route of intercom yet, Oh the joys that await!!

A more comfortable seat and a slower 1 gear.

More comfortable seat would be great, decent cubby with power for phone, a decent universal Bluetooth system  - actually the less they change the better as I can justify keeping mine for another couple of years if they don't make any changes!! :)

Seat is a massively subjective subject. I can do 400 miles a day with no discomfort, so there is nothing wrong with the seat. Depends on your body shape, what works for one, won't work for others. Being riding fit also helps, so if you ride a lot, I guess you get used to the seat.

All in all, fairly happy - must be I pick up my second one on Friday!

But there would get a nod from me:

Lock for the satnav.
Louder standard horn.
Lower first gear for two up touring.
Better quality paint.

Much like all the others:
- Lockable satnav so that I don't need to take it off when more than 6 feet from the bike.
- Two cubbies as standard, not just the left
- Slightly thicker grips
- Better seat
- Loud horn
- USB socket as standard in one of the cubbies.
- Gravity deflector to stop it falling down.

Easy stuff really.....

I'd be very surprised if there are any significant upgrades for 2018, which is fine by me because I've put over 7000 miles on my 2017 model and I'm very happy with it. However, if we're nit-picking .....
A second cubby-hole, currently only available if a radio is specified, would be nice
I would swap over the one dipped beam and two main beams.
A louder horn would be nice !
I'm guessing what we'll see is a new colour scheme - and a price increase !! >:(
