Touratech Crash Bars photos

Post by Terry_RT »

Well I ve installed Touratech's bars, after a long research on the matter.. I found out that this option is more rigid and strong IMHO. Installation took me 1,5 hour and was easy enough for me (not engineer here!). There were instructions included.
I m uploading a bunch of photos, because when I was searching, I couldn't many photos.
I hope someone will find this useful.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

I do have to ask why?

I have the BMW head protectors fitted and they've saved me twice now in slow speed drops. The plastic inserts on the protector are scuffed but no damage elsewhere. To my eye they look a lot better than those scaffolding bars and don't affect servicing.

Just askin'.  ;)

Think they look ok, so what exactly needs to be removed for servicing, do at the bars have to come off?

Well I'm not a mechanic but I don't see how you could remove the rocker covers without removing the bars first. I had bars fitted to my last GS and was charged for removing them to carry out valve clearance checks.

Well you definitely have to remove the bars to get the valve service done. It's about 10'-15' work removing and back installing, do it's not a big deal. It's really easy also

I think that this matter depends on the different approach each rider has. The bars give a more aggressive and technical look vs the better look the covers have. If we compare them for what they were made for, IMHO the bars look better. But again it's just different points if you. On my previous RT 2008 model, I had the bmw valve covers, so I thought I give myself a change..

They do say that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Perhaps some people should have gone to Specsavers? 🤓

Do you still have the instructions? I have bought RT with those bars and don't know how to remove them.
One mount is weeping oil after a bike drop.
I am here to learn.
