Picked Up My New RT Today!

Just rode it home this afternoon and love it, so far. I don't think my sentiments will change either! I don't plan on doing too much to the bike. I'm having the top case painted to match the bike (Alpine White). I ordered one of the newer AeroFlow windscreens and it's supposed to be here this Friday. I don't see myself changing much else on this bike, possibly the seat or add engine/pannier guards. I'm sure I'll be asking questions. For now, I'm going to read the manuals and tinker.

I would highly recommend the cylinder guards, whether BMW or an aftermarket brand.  One gentle drop and you can spoil the cylinder covers, they are magnesium, brittle and expensive to replace.  I have the BMW ones, and they have paid for themselves twice already.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Just take a look at the mess that was left of my cylinder head after a very low speed (~5mph) off.

(Attachment is upside down for some reason - sorry about that.)

Paggers, I bought the black cylinder guards from Nippy Norman, worth the money and will hide your damage.

Thanks Taz, it's an old picture (there is a thread on here with video of the tip-over). I considered just hiding the damage, but the bike was less than two weeks old at the time and I decided that I wanted to learn my lesson and put her back to rights. A personal choice.

Cannot recommend head covers enough.
Dropped my bike twice while on holiday in Spain. Both times at less than walking pace. No damage both times.
I have the Givi ones but any will do so long as you get them!

Registered the bike today and took it for a nice 245 mile ride and I couldn't wait for the ride to end...my rear-end was ready to fall off. Ready to order a Russell Day Long seat! Love this bike though...really love it!
