I have just booked myself and a mate into the Premier Inn, Penrith for 2 nights 6th and 7th August, Sunday and Monday.

The idea is to take the scenic route North (for us) through the Dales (David adjusted so plenty of P stops) on Sunday. Monday we ride the Lakeland Passes 'plus' (excluding the Hardknott and Wrynose which are bloody hateful though fantastically scenic IMO),which will hopefully mean less traffic, and then back home through the Dales on Tuesday.
An alternative ride into Northumberland/Borders will be planned in the unlikely event that Lakeland should prove wet.  ::)

Everyone is welcome to join us for part or all of this trip and as usual routes can be obtained via email.

If anyone would like to join part of the tour & ride on Sunday 6th (day 1) only, a meeting point could be Ripley, just north of Harrogate off the A61.

From Ripley to Penrith (scenic route) is 100 miles in a BaseCamp riding time of 2 hours 40 minutes, plus P&T stops at Malham & Dent.
Folks could make their own way home from Penrith on the day.

The ETA & departure time from Ripley would be determined by k9doc's itinerary, TBC.

I've booked the PI at Penrith for 2 nights, 6th & 7th August 2017.

This tour offers the flexibility of riding, 1, 2 or 3 days.

I sorted the routes, you can sort the weather.

A bit  back I took a group of about 15 bikes over Hardknott and Wrynose.  Challenging for sure but a ride you must do once. The bit  between them is magical.

Bring your waterproofs! You put the P stops in, best if you stop at them on this trip.

Agree with that and especially the once bit. I did it West to East on an FJR1300. Not bothered about doing it again on a heavy tourer. Maybe a smaller capacity GS or a 3 wheeler,  8) , I'd give it another go.

My lot included a K1200LT, 1200S a bunch of RTs and a 1986 R100R.  I'll agree with you though maybe once and staying alive is enough.

No argument here. Some of those blind hairpins and cambers are the stuff of nightmares, but you're right, the scenery is almost worth the sweat (and possibly other stuff).
