Auxiliary light switch for LC

Post by Boxercup »

I've got a set of Wunderlich micro flooter auxiliary lights which comes with relay, wiring loom and switch.  However the kit is let down by a rather cheap looking switch.

Can anyone recommend an alternative nice quality switch?  Do BMW make one? My bike doesn't have radio so is there a switch that could fit the 'cut out' where the radio on off would be?

Appreciate suggestions on this or else the kit will sit for another 9 months on my garage shelf.

Your local electronics specialist would be a good place to start looking.
Here in Australia, Jaycar have some quality switches with waterproof ratings that would do the job and look  good in the audio control panel area. Wherever you live should have a hobby type electronics shop with similar stuff. An auto electrician should also have something suitable.

THE AC rating on the rocker switches shouldn't be a problem as you'd only have a small DC current if using a relay.

BMW made a very nice 2 switch housing for the authority bikes (R1150RTs I think) that fits the R1200RT WC bikes just fine. There is a range of switches and legends all of which are still available.

Of course being BMW they are not cheap, I think about the £50-£75 for the housing, screws and two switches. I listed the part numbers on another forum (BMWSportsTouring??) but if needed could dig them out and post here.

Gives a true OEM look and feel, and there is an illuminated switch that I used for my rear fog-lights so I know when they are on.
