NaviVI alternative?

Post by xviffer »

Hello everyone-
I'm new to the forum and hope to purchase an new R1200RT within the next year.  My question is whether or not there is an aftermarket GPS unit that will fit (and function) in the slot where the Navigator VI unit is mounted.  This would be on a 2017 or 2018 model.  $949 seems like a lot to pay for a GPS.  Also, does the Navi 6 let you plan motorcycle routes in advance?

Thanks.

Congratulations on your choice of bike !  :)
I can't help with alternatives to the BMW Navigators, I've had a Nav IV and now have a Nav V. They all seem to allow routes to be planned.
I'm sure someone on the forum will be able to help you with alternatives (Garmin Zumos ?) and more detail on the planning of routes.

Recommend a second hand nav 5. Screen not as clear on bright day but not a lot of other difference and can still use wheel to zoom in out. There all program able . There are brackets if you want different make but don't sit as nicely IMO

A Zumo 660 fits fine and works great in the dash.

Thanks for the replies.  I'm considering all options, but I'll probably end up forking out the $$.
