hi all just took delivery of this 14 plate r120rt lc
lovely bike but how do you find this hill start
when I use it I have to rev a bit more and when I release clutch is sort of dies and lurches best way to use it or not use
I find not using it easier but would like to use it if it wasn't so snatchy
any feed back would be welcome
Pete

Personally I find it really useful but I release b4 setting off but it does get easier the more you use it.

I also find it a great asset when stopped on inclines, as you put both feet on the ground instead of keeping the rear brake pedal pushed down. Yes, it can feel a little awkward when you first start using this feature with getting the revs just right as you let out the clutch, but as they say, practice makes perfect (or at least a smoother transition!). Persevere with it, because it will become easier to match the revs with the clutch bite point and avoid lurches / snatching etc.

What he said, releasing is far easier than "revving" over it!

If you pull the front break again it will switch the hill start assist off, just cover with back brake when doing so.
It takes a few goes to get the hang of it!

Only practice will make it easier

Took me a while to get the hang of it too. It ssems that the clutch needs to drive against the brake resistance for a short time (a second or so) before it releases and extra revs don't seem to make this time any different. Depending on the gradient I sometimes just grab the brake and release to switch it off - that works too. Practice makes perfect.
Love it, although I admit before I got the bike it did seem like a solution looking for a problem.

Like most people on here, I found it difficult and clunky to start with, but with practice it's fine.
I really like it for inclines at junctions - especially where visibility is restricted when pulling out - solo or two up!
