Denali cansmart...amazingly simple!

Added the DENALI lights and horn to my r1200rt 2017.
Very simple after understanding the brackets for the lights. Using all the searches I couldn't make sense of the how the lights attached to the light bracket. Ordered them anyway and they were an exact fit. Excellent quality and easy to instal.
The whole Cansmart thing is amazingly simple and has lots of options.
Ill add the topbox brake light next.
The Denali horn is comparable to the stebel I previously used without all the wiring and soldering.
For plug and play the Denali is excellent. Pricey but simple.
Cant see the results but hopefully everyone else can. :)

I know its an imposition but some photos and some install details would be great. I am torn between LED headlight bulbs and addition lights. Also I need to hardwire a Dashcam.

Which lights did you fit, D2 or D4 or something else?

D2 lights. I didn't want night time as such. more about visibility so wet for the smaller ones. Still VERY bright though.
the flashing option is great as is the flashing on horn.
Ive got pics. Just have to upload them. Coming soon.

Do they turn off as you indicate, so the indicator isn't washed out by light? I know you can do that with the Hex Ezcan

HEX Code the maker of CanSmart and ezCAN which is the original brand by HEX Code.
They are having a sale of 30% off for the ezCAN.  It did not help us here in the USA because of shipping but EU and EK should be a big help.
It is only until the 21st.
Use code:  HexMadeMyChristmas
Again this is at https://hexezcan.com/

Came today. I dowloaded the software onto my laptop and plugged the Cansmart in via usb. It updated the unit software and I switched the Horn and Brakelight to a switchable 12v supply as I wont be fitting a horn or brakelight. That leaves me a choice of either for my innovv c5 camera. Think I’ll use the brake light supply as its only 2amps.
Very impressed with the quality.

OK Ill attempt to upload images....

The initial challenge was knowing how the bracket fit. These are the brackets.

What I couldn't understand was how they attached and what they actually looked like so I ordered them.

First step remove the front fairing. Easy enough 2 screws and carefully move backwards.

Then I located were the bracket attached.

these are the 3 screws to remove...

the 2 at the back are replaced with the ones that come with the bracket.

Once installed its just a matter of running the cabling and attaching the lights. The Denali CanSmart cabling is ready to go. No cutting, soldering and anything. Just cable tie them to the chassis.

Here's a few photos of the lights themselves...

And for added work....

TopBox instal for 2017.
That red cable is for a top box usb charger. I ran it through the existing cable container (after much effort). I used a direct from battery to SAE connector under the seat that I extended into the top box.
That way I can dismantle the topbox by simply unplugging the sae. I can always add a unit under the seat if no top box.
Am looking at replacing the powerlets however they are all external so not much use for phones etc. Cant believe BMW have not got ahead of the curve and allowed for all this. Love the bike and tech so I guess love BMW too. Sad huh??

Re the use...

Triple flick of the high beam and the lights strobe (flash to pass). Apparently very noticaeable.

On pushing the horn the lights strobe whilst the horn is active.

When indicator is on the lights are off. Once indicator is cancelled lights come back on.

Brightness is adjustable using the wonder wheel. Lights off using the indicator switch (3secs)

Everything is programmable using the CanSmart connector to PC/Mac.

All things considered...very easy.

Ive posted all this to enable others to get answers to "obvious" questions. The tech heads building all this are great as are the sales people but they clearly aren't r1200rt owners. Could not find any info on all this other than the tech/sales info.

Post people if you do this stuff....helps us all. (Or Google is crap at finding it :) )
