Getting rid of speakers

Hi all!
This is my first post but I've looked around quite a lot lately as I purchased a couple of months ago a 2005 R1200RT.
Lots of great information that helped make my mind and buy this bike.
I haven't been able to ride it very much so far as it's winter here in Canada but I'm looking forward to lots of great rides in the future!

My question: My bike initially came with the option for the radio prep with the speakers.
I don't have a radio installed and don't plan on having one.
While changing the headlights bulbs, those huge speakers and their boxes were in my way and I was wondering if it was ok for me to cut them off?
Will it mess things up with the CANBUS?
My concern is that there are some small speakers below each main speakers on each side of the dashboard and they are wired together.
What purpose do these serve?
Thanks in advance!
Alex

Looking at this image it looks as if the speaker and tweeter are one unit. You should simply be able to disconnect the speaker wire from the harness. It will not cause any fault lights to appear.

Thanks! Greatly appreciated!
Something less in the way when changing the lights (and a few good pounds less in the process!)
Do bikes without speakers from the factory simply have a void in there or do they come with some sort of casing / cover?
I understand all bikes come with the speakers grill but what about under it?
