Have had my Nav VI for about 1 year.
I seem to be confused on how to continue my route from where I had lunch and the nav VI was shut off during that time.
Any help to clear up my confusion is greatly appreciated.

The route should automatically continue once you start moving again.

As mentioned it should pick up where it left off. Garmin GPS, for motorcycles anyway, that I have had go through the following process.
Bike shuts off, screen responds do you want to shut down, yes or no with a statement giving you so many seconds to respond before it shuts down by default.
When starting the bike up, it can take a minute or more for the GPS to respond after it has acquired the satellites it needs to fix it's position. The route with your location then continues on.
I have yet to see if the new VI is something different in function.
Just tried it out here at work. GPS is not attached to the bike. Added a route home. Turned the GPS off. Then turned it back on. The display did not show the map image I had to press the View Map icon and there my route was.

You don't even have to press View Map. Once you start moving the GPS will automatically switch over to Map View.
