Hi all

Did research into what size etc, pulled up parts diagram from BMW.

Anyhow, said I needed M8 x 30 torx screws.  But upon replacing the rusty ones, they are actually M8 x 40.

They screw in about 12mm.  Would they be safe to use or would you advice getting the 40mm ones?

Cheers

Sounds like you've got just over 50% of the engagement you should have, buy the 40mm ones. Caliper mounts seem an area to play safe. Don't forget the correct grade, I've no idea what they should be 8.8??

RealOEM shows 30mm bolts, and that's what I'd be using - it might not be 'safe' to assume that the removed 40mm ones are correct!

Thanks guys.

I was curious why mine had 40mm. Also my old ones have a stop thread about 12mm from end.

Thanks for confirming they are 30mm.  So they just seem to screw in 12mm.

I have no idea about grade, where can I find the grade from?

As per David's reply above, the correct bolts are 10.9-SI. The 10.9 is the spec relating to the strength of the bolt, and I think SI just means that '10.9' is measured using an international system of units.

If in doubt, buy the genuine bolts from BMW....they'll be absolutely 100% the right ones!
