BMW R1200RT/R1250RT Forum

I have no issues with the OEM brakes. It's time to change the Front and Rear pads. The OEM pads are pricey.
Can anyone confirm that the Carbone Lorraine CL1232A3 pads are similar in performance as to OEM?

It refers to Brembo manufacturing a "Genuine" pad which they claim is of the same construction as OEM pads.

Just a thought, might be worth a read & consideration, hope this helps.

I have used the Brembo pads from Motoworks before but didn't really like the feel, I just pay for the BMW ones now but always fit myself and do regular clean and inspection, get the most out of them.10000 out of the rear, still loads left on the front.

Brakes are important, like tyres, just go with the best....BMW reassuringly expensive:-)

Would be interesting to know if anyone has experience of the latter pads.

I'm with you on that, tried some EBC FA335HH from Motorworks on the front of my first 2007 RT, https://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop ... 0&spPage=1

They had no feel, threw them away, only ever use OEM now.

Out of interest, how much are the F&R CL pads & where do you get them from.

The OEM ones are £78.11 per pair for each caliper, for both F&R, that's x 3 pairs = £234.33.

I just replaced my rear pads a couple of weeks ago - at 28,000 miles from new.  Fronts were stripped, cleaned and re-fitted - they look good for several thousand miles.


The pads I had bought are EBC HH and the rear brake feels (slightly) better than before fitting the new pads, but then the front brake feels (slightly) better for a good clean !

The Brembo 07BB38.SA "Premium" range, front pads are £32.69 per pair.



The Brembo 07BB03.SP "Premium" range, rear pads are £28.92 per pair.



That's a total of £94.30 for a full set from Motorworks.

My experience is they just don't feel the same, put they do look nice even when fitted.

Just like a Ducati, looks nice but not quite up to the task :-)

Managed to find some Brembo "Genuine" range pads from Genial Motor in Italy.

Front 07BB38.84, RRP. £72.00 -45% = £39, https://www.genialmotor.it/en/57932-fro ... -2016.html

At full RRP., they are not far off the same price as BMW OEM pads, therefore, perhaps the quality/manufacture is similar.

At these discounted prices, a full set of 3 pairs would be £102.00 plus shipping. Might be worth getting some to put in the cupboard in the garage.

The "red backed" Brembo "Premium" range pads might looks nice, but may not be up to the job of OEM pads or Brembo "Genuine" range.
