Hello from New owner of 2007 R1200RT

Post by MyFirstBMW »

Hello,

I am a new owner of a 2007 BMW R1200RT.  This is my first BMW. It has 41K miles and everything is in working condition. I have put on a couple of hundred miles so far and really love it.

I will be be grateful if you can suggest anything towards making my ownership of the beautiful machine a very happy one. Any tips for maintenance, riding, ownership, etc. are very much appreciated.  I am scouring the messages already to pickup applicable information.  If you can forward any previous threads that you think would be helpful for me, that would be great!

Looking forward to learning a lot from all of you.

Thanking you in advance.

Best Regards,

Chakra

Welcome to the forum.  It helps if you add your location to your profile - issues differ for different countries.  :)

Hi Chakra, and welcome to the Forum.

If you're mechanically minded, have a look at some of Jim (von) Baden's instructionals here, they're very informative -

Has the bike been serviced recently? If not, I'd consider doing it yourself, or getting it done - oil changes are the cheapest maintenance going! As gogs has said, your location would help people advise you regarding independent specialists who might be near you. Despite some people not liking Haynes manuals, they're a good investment, as is a factory workshop manual on disc, which crop up on eBay quite often.
I'm sure you'll love your RT, they're a cracking bike - if you're unsure about anything, just ask on here!

Thank you @gogs1.  I thought I had entered all that location info.  Seems like it didn't register.  I updated it now.  I live in Princeton, NJ, USA.
