Curious question.

Just curious.  It says this is a BMW RT 1200 / RT1250 forum.  But I don’t see any categories for RT 1250.  I know the bikes are similar but certainly not the same.  Right?

Thanks.

Correct.
It would be nice if the various iterations of R1200RT (those with servo brakes, SOHC, DOHC etc) and the R1250RT could all have their own areas in which to post technical queries and advice, since the answers / advice may not apply to all.

Meanwhile, posting the model, e.g. Hexhead (with or without servo.),  Camhead or Wethead (1200/1250) & the year, plus location in the world may be helpful when seeking help & advice.

This info. could also be added to your profile.

I agree on both.. Own areas would be nice and much quicker for relevance finding if we had categories for the 1250.  thanks

I don't. If members actually put in their profile, what bike they had, where they were located and then when they ask a question, actually state which bike it is for, then that would help. Most if they want to find something, either do a search or click on show unread posts since last visit, neither of those two options would be helped by sub groups.

+1. Most confusion arises because people don't specify the model of RT in their profile.

Well - I was thinking about that, but as 95% are the same for 1200 and 1250 - I found it to be even more confusing ?
If everyone only would enter they profile and there set the bike and model - a lott would be easier

I agree with the above - please update your profile.
Knowing which model you have helps with issues and advice.
Knowing which country you are in helps readers know whether the accessories or services you mention will be available to them.

To the OP.
The 1250 is nearer to the Wethead 1200 than the Wethead is to any of the other 1200's. So it may as well stay the same except that it would be good if there were a compulsory field to add in an OP so that everyone knows what model we are talking about.

Sure - just add the modell to the year - as I have  "1250RT-2019" - you have 2017 - just add your bike model in front of it

Is it possible in the software to make it a compulsory field on registering?

For 1200's, adding Hexhead, Camhead or Wethead may be helpful too, saves having to try and work out which years the models changed, there may be some overlap.

Obviously not a problem for the 1250's.
