hello everyone am New here.bebei currently own an ex police 2016 r1200rt that had crashed but i managed to get it running fine as the Damage was only cosmetic. after 10000miles last week the dash went blank. on diagnostics it says no can communication with KOMBI. as i have a background in auto electrics i have tracked all connections starting from the cluster to the battery and they all check out okay. i have taken out the cluster and fixed it on a running police bike and it is faultless. vice versa proves some can bus issue. the confusing bit is the various control units in the bike (apart from the DME under the seat). so far i have counted 3, one near the rear auxilliary battery, the other is behind the fairing on the right hand turn signal and the other is attached beside the battery tray/holder. i have no idea what they control except the rear one controls the auxilliary lights.also where is the ZFE central electronics control module located??rather how will i get the DASH to work as the main headlight is not working.
help help help!!!

ZFE and engine management modules are under the fuel tank

checked all 3 fuses and they are okay with +voltage. now zeroing in on this module BMW part number 8566461-01 electronic module. seems i have to disaasemble 60% of the bike to get it.

SOLVED: the central electronics module (part number above) just beside the main battery hold was soaked in water hence shorted out instantly. probably a victim of high pressure wash from my neighborhood car wash last week. will hold grudge with them later. for now am looking for a replacement. dont know if coding is neccesary for a second hand unit...

I would try drying it out, then recheck - I think it's unlikely to be fried

its fried. got a replacement yesterday. now am up and about. thanks anyway.
