The Hiflo 160 is correct, the BMW Original is incorrect,
it's for a pre-LC, the label looks odd, should be 11427721779.
Just noticed the label has Nippy Normans on it,

Have a look closely at the photos in this NN link for a pre-LC oil filter, they show both.

Could use the Hiflo one, I supply and BMW fit them to my Camhead.

Have it in writing from BMW Insured Warranty that it is perfectly acceptable to use Hiflo filters.

Or, get a Mahle one, they make them for BMW.

Yep I'm happy to use the HiFlo one, I've used them on many bikes over the years. I wouldn't use an unbranded one, but these are OK.

BMWIW agree that both Hiflo & Mahle filters are, "considered to be of equivalent quality to an OEM filter, and have no issues using them as part of routine servicing".

Bmw said I could use a space saver with my X1 but I had to return it as it was not compatible with M Sport brakes. Their system was wrong.

BMW UK confirmed that a space saver is not an option on an X1 with M Sport brakes due to storage space. Was it just a local BMW dealer parts dept. error.

Storage is not the issue as there is a double boot. The problem is MSort calipers run too near the wheel rim and will foul the spacesaver. They've got it wrong again.

Sorry, my mistake.

Posted on BMW X1/X2, "Just to say that a Space saver is not an option with M Sport Brakes".

There appears to be a space saver available but for some reason, not to retail customers.

Not sure what this has got to do with an oil filter, other than to show that errors can be and are made when ordering parts.

The info. from the CalSci website doesn't look correct for an R1200RT.

Using the Hiflo catalogue, http://www.hiflofiltro.com/catalogue

The Hiflo catalogue also gives a cross-reference to the BMW part numbers.

The HF160 for an LC is 62mm, not 65mm.

OK, only a small difference but wait.

The HF164 for a pre-LC is 54mm, not 71mm.

The HF163 is 79mm, not 90mm.

This photo shows a HF160 at 62mm which is larger than HF164 at 54mm (same as the BMW one for pre-LC's)

Whilst I'm very happy to supply and have fitted a Hiflo filter, I'd rather it be the correct one.

The most important thing that I got from the CalSci website is that they all have the same threads, no-anti drain back valve, and a bypass valve.  With all that being the same I would think that a longer filter would have a higher capacity for filtering regardless of brand.  I have given some thought into using the same filter that I use on my 91 K-bike on the 18 R1200RT.  The first time I saw the filter on my 18 R1200RT I thought "good grief, why such a short filter when there is plenty of room for a longer one".

Don't think I'd be too comfortable fitting a larger than spec. oil filter. Without an anti-drainback valve, oil pressure may take longer to build up. What impact would it have on oil pressure. If I was concerned about oil filtering, I'd rather change the oil & filter more frequently than recommended.
