Especially poignant for me, as it came four years and a day after my uncle Jack (for whom I was named), a 26 yr old Spitfire pilot was lost on his first mission over the Channel. No more hunkering down in the back garden Anderson shelter or in the tube stations, so it was especially meaningful for my British relatives. I'm sure that the elderly "greatest generation" are feeling a sense of deja-vu with this viral war we are all fighting now. In terms of the doctors, nurses and other vulnerable workers, I quote Winston: "Never . . . has so much been owed by so many to so few." Stay safe, all.
