Absolutely not, I use them myself. Just a little joke, some folks won't use anything unless it's got BMW stamped all the way through it.Kimbles wrote:Something wrong with a hiflo filter David?
Re: Coolant leaking
I use an independent garage for services I trust them alot more I had one service done at dealer and it didn't feel like it does when my independent does them hence the none bmw filter but I like them I've always had them on all my bikes, alot of BMW's parts aren't the best.

Looks like water pumps are designed to weep slightly on start up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1ae458wLwg

The water pump is the same for all wetheads, both 1200 & 1250, https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part?i ... 1518529879 therefore, you'd expect the weep hole to be there too.

The hole was removed around 2017, and a tube is fitted to take any seep down toward the bottom of the bike (I believe).
Anyhow, as people can't see it, they don't worry about it. As should the OP.
Just keep an eye on the radiator header tank, in the same way as you would keep an eye on the oil level. It really is no big deal.

Re: Coolant leaking
Item #4 is a foam insert, perhaps BMW have decided to plug the weep hole with a sponge to mop up any dribbles.
This part is listed for all Wetheads, https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part?i ... 1118546228
Buy one for a couple of quid and forget about it, https://www.online-parts.co.uk/bmw-bike ... 1118546228
