Just completed my 24K mile interval service and when replacing the final drive rubber boot noticed the clips that snap to the final drive have started to separate from the inner diameter of the rubber boot >:( . Time to replace.
Q. Do I need to drop the final drive down to replace the rubber boot, or just snap in place?
Thanks in advance for your advice, feedback...

This is the FD unit rubber boot.
The FD unit will need to be dropped and separated from the (splined) shaft drive to replace.

OK, I'm now chalking my question up to shear stupidity. Of course, I need to drop the final drive to install a new rubber boot, how else would it go around the drive shaft!!!? :-[ Sheepishly, -Bob
Thank you for the confirm David.
Boxflyer; great write-up. If it wasn't for you and your 6 part video series, I would have never mustered up the courage to conduct interval maint. on my RT wet-head. Thank you so much for what you do!
