Why would we need rain gear in the UK?

One word: Gore-Tex. Ever since buying a riding suit and boots with a Gore-Tex membrane, I’ve never had to pack separate rain gear or togs or stop on the side of the road to gear up. Most popular brands either offer Gore-Tex or a proprietary breathable, weather-proof membrane in their top outfits. That’s where I’d start.

My current gear of choice is Halvarssons Gore-Tex laminate - so much better than the older, drop-liner jackets. It's lighter and more flexible - water isn't held in the outer material like it is on drop-liner ones. Oxford do laminate stuff too now, so prices are coming down. Gore-Tex isn't the be-all and end-all of membranes either, there are plenty of equally-good ones out there, it's just the one that most people have heard of!

My rain all weather gear is Heine Gericke , armour protected and Goretex waterproofed. I have had this kit over 15 years and it still keep me 100% dry , it was expensive but my word i have had my monies worth !!!! one word of warning some kits state waterproof but they are actually only shower proof ,i would always go for Goretex !!!!

Richa GoreTex gear for me. Expensive but you generally get what you pay for. Does the job well for me.

Richa Gore-tex laminate jacket and Oxford laminate trousers. They zip together well without re-do zips. So great for me. The one downside for Oxford trousers is that they are quite "baggy", which cause the knee protector moving. Don't like that really. If you can live with this they are fine. for me it was annoying, so I bought Forcefield knee protectors. And now I have Level2 protectors for all my trousers :-)
