New to the site
New to biking
And new to the BMW 1200RT SE
Just bought one this afternoon
So I may be asking some questions, which some may consider silly.
But please bear with me, I have a lot to learn    :)

Welcome Stokebloke.
This forum covers a very wide range of bikes (even though it is titles R1200RT/R1250RT!), so please be aware of that, both when you read and when you post to the forum. The model changes are such that an early RT and a late RT are as different as chalk and cheese. So when you do post something, please be clear what model you are referring to because R1200RT means very little!
So forgive me if you are already aware of this, but the bikes tend to be categorised by nicknames reflecting model years. So in short:
Airheads = Old air cooled Boxers of the era up to about 1996
Oilheads = The 1100 and 1150RT's from 1996 to around 2000 and from 2000 to 2004 respectively.
Hexheads = The first of the 1200's from 2005 to 2009
Camheads = The second iteration of the 1200 but with overhead cams instead of pushrod operated cams.
Wethead = A totally new design for the 1200 with parts of the cylinder head being water cooled.
ShiftCam = the second iteration of the Wethead with a CC hike from the '1200' to the '1250' and the addition of stepped cam timing.
