Now we know where the old Roadsmart moulds finished up, albeit with a few mods !!.

I'd be interested to hear any reports on Maxxis tyre experience on the RTLC. I've often wondered about trying a pair myself. but have always chickened out and taken the 'tried and tested' approach of Michelin, Metzeler or Continental.
I wonder if we're all missing out on a bargain deal, due to 'tyre snobbery' and regarding only the mainstream suppliers as worthy choices. I've tried 'second division' tyres on various cars - Nexen, Kumho, etc and always found them to be very good. Bike tyres are a bit more subjective and a very personal preference.
Had Maxxis tyres on a few bikes I've purchased in recent years, my experience was they let go without warning, had the ABS working overtime and didn't cope with any form of moisture on the roads. In short lethal.

This is what they look like in the flesh (rubber), not bad for £160 delivered.
Very similar tread pattern to the original Dunlop RoadSmart.
Just need to see some real world testing now.

Go for it David. You've obviously been thinking about it for nearly two years now...

I've had a pair of Dunlop RoadSmart 2 fitted ready for next year. Would have continued to use RoadSmart 1 but they are now discontinued.
I know someone who has used Maxxis tyres on a FireBlade, he was quite happy with them. They had a similar tread pattern to the early Bridgestone Battlax tyres.

In both videos, the tyres were donated by Maxxis. Does this mean the reviewer will give an unbiased opinion of them.

That's my problem. I can not find a true review from a person who paid with their own cash for a pair

They are Sport (SP) not Sport Touring (ST) tyres, therefore, unlikely to be fitted to an RT.
