Mirror assembly popping out?

On my 2009RT, this was a problem (though tethered).  I guess the rubber pop-in receivers were tired/worn.  I took a thin 1/77 mm plastic-coated wire, cemented it into the grommet and pressed the mirrors home, and they haven't popped out since.  I've seen in another post that the cam heads on now have a securing screw system.  About time. Now, if only they'd change the awful placement of the mirrors.

TJRL,  Once again,  the guys you design these bikes don't tour.  E.g., the fairings that send the cold air directly up your sleeves!  I jury-rigged a set of convention mirrors on the existing holes so I don't have to look down and away from the road, and so I can see past a touring load that blocks the view from the stock mirrors.  Ugly but effective.

The rubber grommets are available as separate replacement parts.
