Looks like the bike is 2 years old, is the mileage 6K or more.
What work has the independent quoted for and as I'm local, which one is it.
Every two years, the oil change in rear bevel gears is due.

Good point! it may well need the brake fluid flushing and the rear drive oil changing

The brake fluid change is due at year one then every two years after that, i.e. next after 3, then 5 years etc.

Which means if its a late bike registered in 2018 but classed as a 2019 model it could well be due!
Like mine its a late 2016 but classed as a 2017 model year!

No
It had the 12k service last year so all was done well that's what it says in the book!
£149 is literally an oil and filter!

BMW Motorrad main dealer Wolverhampton, 2020 RT, £220 for first annual service, just oil and filter ! £280 if you want brake fluid change as well. Total rip off.

But is it ? When you consider the overheads and price of labour then how can a fancy shiny dealership survive by charging anything less. 4 litres of oil at £18 / litre + oil filter at £12 = £84 + 1:30 hours of labour at £90/hr = £135 Total £219. At BMW prices it soon adds up. The cheapest I can do my own DIY service is about £10/litre for oil and about £8 for filter = £48. However my bike is old and I don't have to worry about service history or warranty.
I have just bought a new KTM 890 Adventure to keep my RT company. For the next two years I am going to have to stomach dealer servicing prices to keep warranty. However the service schedule is 9300 miles or annually so I will just get one service done by dealer. The second one the warranty will expire and I will do the work myself.
Unfortunately it seems in recent years we have all been suckered into the glamorous showrooms with free coffee and the all important 50 point service check (sure) but it comes with a price.

BMW quoted £300.00 as they say it will require a brake fluid / bevel drive oil change as well , brake fluid at 6000 mile? me thinks i,ll stay with independent (Mick Kendrick ).

BMW go a bit over the top with brake fluid. If my memory serves me correct BMW schedule is for a new bike to change it after the first year and then every 2 years regardless of miles. As for final drive its such as easy and quick job on the later models it shouldn't bump the service price up. You can get 5 changes of final drive oil from one 1 litre bottle with some left over at 180 ml capacity, so cost per change about £3.50 !! Time 10 mins.
The most time consuming part of a main service is changing the air filter because of all the body work that has to come off and then back on without breaking any of the pesky plastic tabs. The air filter is the one job that's a PITA to do. The valve check is relatively quick by comparison.

For a Camhead BMW Service which includes an oil & filter change, the time allowed is 35 mins. Each hour is divided into 12ths (5 mins) where 7 x 5 = 35 mins. See the AW for each task on the invoice.
Providing your own oil & filter reduces the parts cost by approx. half.

As far as I know, Mick Kendrick is not VAT registered, therefore, his work won't uphold the T&C's of a warranty.
If it's of concern, try Paul at The Workshop in York,
Home (theworkshopyork.com) he is VAT registered. His labour rate is £48 + VAT per hour, half that of the BMW dealers.
