If buying a pre-owned (used) sat. nav. from a.n.other, can the new owner continue to have the lifetime maps updated. If so, how is this achieved, thank you.

My understanding is that the lifetime updates are connected with the serial number of the BMW Nav unit, unlike other Garmin products.
Also, several dealers in the US are selling their older BMW Nav VI units which are v1.x, and they are not the newer Nav VI v2.0 (really should have been Nav VII).
So be aware!

The Garmin updater checked S/N of my unit and download updates based on that. I'm not sure if I had to create account. I'm sorry. Deleted all Garmin stuff already and wiped out Nav.
